Description:

This example is a little assignment we had to do in my Digital Video class in first year. For this assignment we had to get in groups of four or five and film a short interview with someone Each group member would then edit together their own version of the interview. I was in a group with three other people. We decided to interview one of the group members, Preston Patey, about his band. So we came up with some questions to ask him and then we went and found an interesting place around Humber College that we could film at. We chose to use the outdoor stage because it has a really interesting canopy and we thought we could get some interesting shots.
We then filmed the interview with me asking the questions and the other two group members operating the cameras. At the same time that we were filming the interview we shot some cutaway shots and we also shot the interview from multiple angles.
Once we were done the filming, we went back to class, dumped the footage to everyone's hard drive and then we each got down to editing. I chose to use some music from Preston's band in the background to make it more interesting. I basically edited all the questions in order and used the multiple angles and cutaways to add variety. We only had one audio track so I had to dub mine and Preston's talking over the video and try and make it match up the best I could. Overall I think it came out pretty good.
